How To Survive Continuing Professional Education

Business and Management

Strategic thinking about CPE is key, in my opinion. You are responsible for your own career, just like any small business owner. Therefore, you need to develop a strategy with the help of experts from CPE Guide. Strategy starts with asking basic questions, researching, planning, and then executing that plan. This is the work of a busy professional, such as a CPA.

These are the most important questions you need to answer

  • What are my career and personal goals?

  • In 5 years, where do you want to be? What about 10 years? 20 years?

  • What are my strengths as a person?

  • What areas would I see the greatest potential for improvement if I put my focus on?

  • What improvements could I make to my career and life?

  • What are the challenges and opportunities I will face over the next 3 to 6 months? 6-12 months? 1-2 Years?

  • Which clients do I serve? What are their needs? How can I better serve them?

  • How do I relate to my colleagues? Is there room for improvement?

  • Are my network members effective? What is my network's value? What can I do to make that better?

  • What are the key developments in accounting?

  • What are the most recent developments in my business or the communities that I serve? What is my plan to stay ahead of the latest trends?

These questions might seem simple and straightforward. These questions aren't particularly scientific but they can be a good starting point for a strategic plan that includes personal growth. Personal development is key to progress.

We must always remember that improving our abilities and skills will always bring the best results.
